Knowing who you are is very important when it comes to dressing to your taste. It is also an important aspect of being confident. The more you get to know yourself and the more you know what you like and don't like, you'll get to know what suits you or doesn't and what you believe looks flattering on you. With that you can walk with your head raised up in confidence knowing that you look great and feel great. Wearing something that you are comfortable in is also very important. Be able to move freely in your clothing without a care in the world. Choosing the right colours and combinations for you is an added bonus. So Just be you.
Let your dressing express yourself. Yellow is one of the spring colours this season. However the yellow I have seen in the magazines, and on the runways is way too bright for my skin tone therefore I decided to bring the brightness down a little. A wore this mustard yellow top with leather trousers and my favourite ankle boots on a night out with my friends.
confidence is my new black
I am tired of people feeling like they have a say about different things concerning my body.
"Janet you should stop eating, Janet, can you fit in that? You shouldn't wear that because it will not look nice on big girls like you. Wear a more sliming colour like black. Minimalist style is not for curvy girls like you. It is an androgynous style not suitable for buoyant feminine curves.
instead of answering such ignorance, which will only result in a waste of my breath. I will instead dress it out. My confidence is my new black. I decide what I am going to wear and whether or not it looks good on me, if it is appropriate and I believe it does, you bet I am going to rock the hell out of it.
If you are like me, don't let these words get the best of you, instead shake them of, literarily, like a shiver down your spine. Smile and move on. Prove them wrong by being you, confident and beautiful. Be happy with who you are. It is when you love yourself and accept who you are that you will be happy. Don't wait for anybody tell you just how beautiful you are. Wake up in the morning, look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself that 'YOU ARE BEAUTIFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE'. God took his time ( 9 months to be exact) to make you, he said everything he made was good, so you best believe that you are good and SOOOO much more.
If you have an ambition to drop a few pounds that is great. Go for it. I also want that for myself too, but at my own time and pace. I will no longer waste time on failing crash diets and unreasonable short cuts to easy weight loss that will not yield any results. I will instead work towards heathy eating and renew my mind with a positive perspective towards a healthier lifestyle. Things like this do not just happen over night therefore I will be taking all the time I need, because I will not rush nor harm myself for the satisfaction of others. The fact remains that I still love myself, If I don't who will? Loosing weight is not what will make me happy nor content with who I am. I will loose the weight and when I do I will be happy because I have learnt to love myself for who I am and accept myself as I am. With confidence I will take care of my body and and rock it the best way I can.
Spring is just around the conner. The weather is brightening up and the temperature is getting warmer. It's time to start putting away the coats.
For this look I have gone with a simple black top and a sheer mustard combo (trousers and scarf). I really love this look because it's very light and you can build it up or down. This outfit was made for me by my mum from Nigeria. Thank you mum. Kilzzez.
