Hmmm.......Trust! Why do I feel like I'm being betrayed everytime I mention that word. Is it not enough to trust a person. I encounter some situations lately and it got me questioning my morals and the morals of others in the society we live in. The word trust has turned into some sort of an empathetic display of weakness. It's not even curtesy or a kind gesture anymore. Instead of trust, marriages are backed up with prenups, some with divorce as a solid option from the start. Contracts are getting tighter and longer, your word is simply not enough. Why would it?
When promises made by man can be easily misconstrued with a tiny white lie, and then one after the other. Or some unforeseen circumstances arise but still can't/shouldn't be used as excuse but are used anyways. The easy route rather than the sincere one.
I used to question a lot of these things has to why things got this way. Why our no can't be no and our yes be yes. Actually.....Is it a matter of can't? Or won't? Whatever happened to sincerity? Someone once told me that "being sincere is not the problem, it's the person receiving your sincerity". From the way I look at it they are both the problem. Finding someone who can be sincere and trust worthy can be difficult, finding two is a challenge. People aren't sincere enough to begin with, because they themselves are afraid of being hurt. They've moved from one bad experience to the other and now guarding their hearts and decision jealously, placing there trust in agreements that can be undone with loopholes. The thing is all those walls we put up can come crashing down like nothing with just a knock. So instead on wondering whether or not we should trust person A or B. Why not just trust God? Trust that everything is working together for your good.
Why put your hope in him? (treasures)
Trust that he is ordering your every step as long as you let him lead. He won't let you fall nor will he let you fail. He won't leave you nor forsake you. There are no loop holes in his promises to you. He honours his words more than his name.
And to those who don't believe in God for one reason or the other. Know that contracts, prenups, agreements can be broken like the promises that broke you. Know that there is someone that you can trust. Who always has your best interest at heart. Just learn to trust.
'Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you.' Isaiah 49:15
